Favorite books just now, in no particular order:

Bridge, Robert Thomas.  Small, perfect, every-sentence-is-beautiful novel by an award-winning Bay Area poet.

Seed and The Canyon:  Two (!) new novels from all-time hero Stanley Crawford. How did I miss news of their release until just now?

Dear Committee Members, Julie Schumacher.  The funniest recent novel ever on academia. (You probably already knew that.)

Empire of Self, Jay Parini.  Can’t-put-it-down forthcoming bio of Gore Vidal by his friend and fellow writer, the poet, critic, reviewer and, lately, Bernie Sanders supporter interviewed on Ian Masters’ excellent “Background Briefing.”
